Every once in a while, every home needs some cozying up. Whether it is about getting more cozy things to make the home feel warmer and homier, or you just want to update how it looks, you should know the little tricks on how to cozy up your home. If you don’t know where to start, there are some easy tips for achieving this and you don’t even have to spend a fortune. So, let’s start.
1. Update the Bedding
If you want your bedroom to be cozier, it’s time to update the bedding. Remove that cotton bedding that was keeping you cool during the hotter days, and go for flannel for a warmer feel. Additionally, you can buy all new bedding that you love in order to upgrade the decor, too. A few more decorating pillows and a fluffy blanket will do the trick, too. Just think about the textures you want to introduce and pick your favorite colors.
2. Add More Wall Art
Empty blank walls do not say home is cozy. Those walls can come off as boring and cold. To make your home feel cozy, you need some wall art that will bring personality and warmth. You can hang your family photos, create the wall art of your favorite images, or even opt for some custom-made posters that you can find here. Whatever you choose, just make sure it tells everyone who enters that it is your home, and make sure the colors on the wall art go hand in hand with the decor.
3. Cozy Up the Floors
A lot of heat and comfort can be lost in a home through the floors. No matter what type of flooring you have, it can get cold during the winter. So, to provide a more cozy feel to your feet, consider adding rugs. If you don’t want to cover the floors entirely, consider smaller area rugs of great texture and place them strategically. You can add one under your bed, dining table, and coffee table in the living room. Additionally, you can pick area rugs in warmer hues to visually cozy up the space in no time.
4. Add Soft Lighting
Having layered lighting is a must in a cozy home. Especially during the colder days when the natural light goes out earlier. Besides that great overhead lighting, consider adding other layers. Get a floor lamp for your living room, a desk one for the home office and even consider some warm-toned LED lights for your bedroom. This way, you can create different atmospheres in your home all day and night, and enjoy the soft lighting while reading, chatting, or simply enjoying your time at home.
5. Put Your Memories on Display
Nothing speaks cozy better than looking at your precious memories. To achieve this, consider creative ways of displaying your family photos, souvenirs from your travels and every other item you love and that sparks joy. You can create a gallery wall of family photos, frame the postcards, and display them on the fridge or any other way you like.
Your home should be a safe space where you love spending your time. So, if it feels a bit cold or impersonal, it is time to cozy it up. Consider plenty of textures, fluffy and warm materials and colors that speak warmth to you. When you add those little details, you will see how comfier your home will get.
