No two jackets are the same, although they might share the same name! In reality, jackets are available in a great range of styles, colours and designs. For every occasion – casual, formal, corporate and everything in between – there’s sure to be the perfect jacket for you. But, with so many jackets to choose from on the market, finding the perfect one to complement your outfit is easier said than done.
Luckily, we’re here to help. Read on for more info about the different types of jackets available, and how to wear them.
Bomber Jackets
Historically, bomber jackets were designed in World War 1 as a flight jacket to keep pilots warm! Over time, bomber jackets were given new life by the US Army, where they became more heavy-duty, and more of what we recognise today. Bomber jackets are comfortable, with a zippered front and fitted cuffs. They also tend to have elasticated waists! For this reason, we recommend you wear a bomber jacket as part of a casual outfit, paired with combat boots and denim jeans, to maintain that rugged, military look.
Suit Jackets
Every gentleman’s wardrobe should have a selection of quality men’s suits. More often than not, suits are expected in an office environment and also work well as attractive evening wear. As such, wearing a suit jacket should definitely be considered a formal event! We suggest purchasing a canvassed suit jacket that drapes well on the body, worn best with a plain dress shirt and slacks.
Denim Jackets
Denim jackets took the world by storm with their ‘out-there’ look during the 1960s, and continue to be a wardrobe staple today. There’s one excellent thing about denim jackets, though; their versatility. You can wear your denim jacket with no more than a T-Shirt and jeans, or a smart casual outfit, like a collared shirt and chinos.
Biker Jackets
Set your inner rebel free by wearing a leather biker jacket. Short, close-fitting, and often adorned with fierce metal zips and studs, biker jackets are the best of all worlds; casual, fashionable, and cool – all at once! Personally, we think biker jackets are best worn when you’re in a rush and need to look put-together in an instant. They work with any outfit, whatever the weather.
Parka Jacket
Perhaps the most practical of all the jackets listed here, parka jackets were originally commonplace within the Inuit tribes of the Arctic – perfect for staying warm, and well-insulated against rain and snow. Parka jackets are best worn in cold weather as a result, and enhance any outfit, simply because they’re so useful!
All in all, feel free to don your jacket in style. Whether a bomber, biker or suit jacket, this clothing item ties any outfit together. Interested in purchasing a jacket of your own?
